Both laminated bus bar and powder coated bus bar are widely used in Bi-Directional-Converter, Charging-Converter and Rectifier etc. for Urban Rail Transit.

Differentiated from normal inverter and normal converter, the power supply converter of urban Rail Transit operates always under critically bad working conditions which include high power density, harsh working environment, long full-load operation time, and large power fluctuation.

Major consideration of bus bar design includes but not limit stray inductance mitigation, stress carrying capacity, and necessary Ingress Protection Rating against dust and humidity. 

The design for Insulation Coordination between bus bars considers both electrical clearance and creepage distance mainly. Electrical stresses and environmental conditions must be taken into consideration while sizing insulation of laminated bus bar. 

In addition, oversizing insulation design is unaccepted. In the meantime, insulation should be robust enough against being broken under severest working conditions.
