Why choose bus bars for your Traction converter and Power supply system application?


Being installed at the bottom of the train, traction converter is key components of EMU, locomotive as well as urban rail vehicles. The main function of the traction converter is to convert the 1500V DC power from the Overhead Lines into 0~1150V three-phase AC power, then control the start, brake and speed adjustment of the AC traction motor through voltage regulation and frequency regulation.

The internal electrical connection of a typical traction converter power circuit adopts a triple-layers composite structure design, which is realized by mutual overlapping horizontal laminated bus bar, vertical laminated bus bar, and connecting laminated bus bar. 

The design for Insulation Coordination between bus bars considers both electrical clearance and creepage distance mainly. Electrical stresses and environmental conditions must be taken into consideration while sizing insulation of laminated bus bar. 

In addition, oversizing insulation design is unaccepted. In the meantime, insulation should be robust enough against being broken under severest working conditions.
